Huskies Win Three on Saturday
SALEM, VA--The 16th–ranked Bloomsburg University softball team won three games on Saturday at the West Virginia Wesleyan tournament. The Huskies beat Northwood, 5-2, West Liberty 6-0 and Alderson-Broaddus, 2-0.
In game one of the day, Tara Reed (Williamsport/Williamsport) went 3-4 with an RBI to lead the offense, while Sheelin Fisher (Coplay/Allentown Central Catholic) tossed a six-hitter and struck out five to earn the win over Northwood. Bloomsburg scored two runs in both the second and third innings to open a 4-1 lead and roll to the win.
In game two, the Huskies beat West Liberty with Reed tossing a four-hit shutout and fanning five along the way. Offensively, Reed was 3-4 with a double and two RBI, while Lori Neyhard (Bloomsburg/Central Columbia) went 1-1 with two walks and had an RBI.
In the final game of the day, the Huskies beast Alderson-Broaddus behind the strong pitching of Ashley Lynn (Rivderside/Danville) who allowed just three hits, struck out eight and did not walk a batter. At the plate, Kayleen Sidisky (Bellefonte/Bellefonte) was 2-2, while Mandy Koch (Dauphin/Central Dauphin) was 2-3 with an RBI and Nikki Shiko (Kulpmont/Southern Columbia) 1-3 with an RBI.
Bloomsburg, winners of nine straight, improved to 17-2 on the year. The Huskies play at Bowie State on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
